A Circus-Themed Wedding in Portland
This circus themed wedding was one for the books – with bridal party and guests all participating in this amazing circus theme, it’s sure to inspire. Fun fact about this bride & groom: they run a local on-going stage show. Its called the Mystery Box Show. Its a sex positive, body positive, live sex story telling show
From the photographer:
Reba , the bride, has always loved the circus and all of the fun elements it embodies. So, when she and Eric decided to get married, she knew this was her opportunity to have the wedding of a lifetime. The venue they chose was Oaks Amusement Park, which is one of the oldest operating amusement parks in the US. Their classy circus theme was carried through every last detail, from the oversized stuffed circus animals places strategically around the dance hall, to the silver elephant cuff links that the groom wore.
At the table, each place setting had a little gold gift box and inside that box was a red clown nose for every guest. The wedding invitations requested that the guests come in all manner of circus attire, and let me tell you what, those guests did not disappoint! Well over 80% of the guests were in full regalia and it was glorious! Looking out on the crowd was spectacular because there was so much color, sparkle, fun and of course, red noses! The entertainers were a local group called Sir Cupcake’s Queer Circus and they did not just show up and put on a show– no, they performed in and amidst the crowd of guests dancing and having a great time.
This wedding was very Portland, in a “Keep Portland Weird” way. It was wonderful to see how many local elements were incorporated into this fun and off-the-beaten-path event. Even the photographer was mindful of local elements and incorporated a LensBaby lens(designed and manufactured in Portland, Oregon) into her work.
